01Why this matters
A memory book is made from some of the most personal pictures a family has: newborn photos, bath times, grandparents at home, the inside of your house. Parents are right to ask where those pictures go and who sees them. We would rather explain it in plain words than hide it in fine print, so this page walks through each stage. The full policy is on our privacy page.
02When you share your photos
You send photos on WhatsApp or share a Google Drive or Google Photos link. You choose what to send; there is no need to upload your whole camera roll, and you do not need to sort or caption anything.
- Who sees them: only the crafting team working on your book.
- What they are used for: making your book. Your photos are never posted, sold or used for ads without your permission.
- Shared links: if you share a Drive or Photos link, you control it. You can switch off link access once we confirm we have everything.
03While your book is being made and printed
Our team writes the story and designs every page by hand. Your photos, questionnaire answers and voice notes are used to make your book, and nothing else.
The memories you share are often as personal as the photos: a difficult birth, a grandparent who has passed away, a family nickname. They are treated with the same care and seen only by the crafting team working on your book.
Nothing is printed until you approve. You see a full digital proof of every page first, and you can ask for changes within your edition’s revision rounds. If there is a photo you would rather leave out, even at proof stage, just tell us.
The proof is also a good moment to look at the book the way a stranger might. Is there a page you would be uncomfortable with if the book were left on a coffee table when guests visit? If so, swap the photo. It is your book, and that call is always yours.
Books are printed with our printing partner in Chennai. The printing partner receives only what is needed to print your book. And because nothing is printed until you approve the proof, what reaches the press is exactly what you signed off.
04After delivery: deletion on request
Once your book has been delivered, you can ask us to permanently delete your photos and project data. Just message us on WhatsApp or through our contact page.
Personal data is handled under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). If you have a question about your data at any point, ask us.
It is also worth tidying up on your side. If you shared a Google Drive or Google Photos link for the book, remove our access or delete the shared folder once your book has arrived. A link you have forgotten about is one of the most common ways photos end up seen by people you did not intend.
05General tips for sharing children’s photos safely
These habits are worth following whichever service, app or relative you send photos to. None of them require technical knowledge, and most take a minute to set up once.
- Share only what is needed. Pick the photos for the purpose instead of granting access to an entire album or camera roll.
- Check shared links. Set Drive or Photos links to people with the link, not public, and turn off access when the job is done.
- Watch the background. House numbers, school logos, uniforms and street signs can reveal more than you intend on social media.
- Think about location data. Many phones save where a photo was taken. Most social platforms and phone settings let you remove or stop saving it.
- Keep bath and nappy photos private. They are sweet for family albums, but are best kept off public profiles.
- Review family groups. Large WhatsApp groups can forward photos further than you expect. Ask relatives not to repost on public accounts.
- Ask what happens afterwards. Any service that receives your child’s photos should be able to tell you who sees them and how to get them deleted.
- Think about the future child. A photo that is funny today may embarrass a twelve-year-old. If in doubt, keep it in the family.
06Questions worth asking any photo service
Before you send your child’s photos to any printer, studio or app, it is reasonable to ask a few direct questions. A trustworthy service should answer them simply.
- Who exactly will see my photos?
- Will my photos be used for marketing or social media, and will you ask first?
- Will I see and approve the final result before it is printed or published?
- Who else receives my files, such as a printer, and what do they get?
- How do I get my photos and data deleted, and when?
Our answers are the ones on this page. If anything is unclear, write to us before you share a single photo.
07Printed books stay in your home
One quiet advantage of a printed book is that it lives on your shelf, not on a public feed. Grandparents and children can look through it together without anything being posted online. If you are making a book for a child aged 0 to 3, our Thulir edition, recommended for ages 0–3, holds up to 100 photos and arrives in a protective keepsake box.
